Understanding Mini Pills: The contraceptive pill (also called "the pill") is a daily pill that contains hormones to change the way the body works and avoid pregnancy. The hormones in the pill control the ovaries and uterus. These birth control pills are "combination pills" containing a combination of oestrogens and progesterone to avoid ovulation. A woman cannot get pregnant if she does not ovulate because there is no egg to be made fertile.
