Health Problem: Falls

Reason for frequent falls: Older people often suffer falls because of loss of balance, tripping, episodes of dizziness, and often experience blackouts resulting in injury. In a shocking study, it was revealed that the elderly who are above 70 years of age, are ‘three times likely to die following low-level falls.'

Consequence to the fall: The bones of the elderly are brittle and frail, most of the time, when they fall it results in a broken hip. At an older age, surgeries, especially hip replacement surgeries are painful and deadly.

Prevention: Brittle bones can be avoided by undertaking weight bearing exercises in young, middle and even old age. Ensure that you consult a doctor and qualified trainer with help regarding which weight bearing exercises to pursue for maximum benefits.
