An autoimmune disease, in which the body’s natural immune responses wreak havoc on the lining of the joint, shoulder rheumatoid arthritis may weaken the soft tissue around the cartilage, ligaments and tendons and can be a cause of shoulder inflammation and pain.

Even though this disease progresses slowly, it flares up and one may experience fatigue, weakness, flu-like symptoms, accompanied by a low-grade fever, depression, chronic dry eye or dry mouth and a loss of appetite, along with an acute pain in the shoulder.
