How much calcium does a seniour adult need? Experts recommend a daily calcium intake of 400 mg/day for an adult person. A calcium-rich diet is essential for senior adults to prevent osteoporosis and fractures. In order to replenish calcium in your body, one has to eat calcium-rich foods. Thus, many physicians suggest calcium supplements, which are available at any over-the-counter medicine shops.

Natural sources of calcium are cheese and yogurt, fish with edible bones (such as canned sardines, pilchards and salmon), pulses, dried fruit, dark green vegetables, nuts and seeds.
