Cholesterol Diet: Meal Plan for Lowering Cholesterol
Festivity and celebrations are a good excuse to consume high calorie food in large quantities. This can cause a health risk as it is a known fact that consuming high cholesterol food increase your chances of heart disease. Nutritionist Neelanjana Singh from Heinz Nutri Life Clinic, Delhi has listed out an easy to follow meal plan that promises to lower cholesterol.
She says, “This is a sample diet plan for anyone who has raised cholesterol levels. These cholesterol lowering foods have been highlighted for easy identification.”
25- 30 g of mixed nuts (Walnuts, Almonds, Pistachios)
Oats porridge with skimmed milk
Apple with peel
Low fat yoghurt
Tofu broccoli stir fry in garlic sauce
Tea/ Fresh lemonade / Buttermilk
(Bengal Gram whole) Kala chana tikki
(Sorghum) Jowar rotis
Soy nuggets in gravy
Sautéed beans and carrots
Note: Besides following the suggested meal plan do remember to cook in a healthy oil rich in monounsaturated fatty acids. Any of these oils fulfil the purpose and could be used in small amounts, e.g. Mustard/ Canola /Olive/ Ricebran/Sesame.
