5 Reasons to Eat More Sprouts

Sprouts are often referred to as a superfood because they are loaded with nutrients and help purify the blood and strengthen the immune system. They also contain large doses of vitamin E, potassium, iron, phyto chemicals, antioxidants, bioflavonoids, chemo-protectants and protein, folic acid, zinc, niacin, riboflavin, copper and magnesium which are needed by the body to stay healthy and strong.

Digestion: Sprouts contain large amounts of enzymes, which help in the digestive process and they also help to increase the absorption of nutrients in the digestive tract. Sprouts are also loaded with fibre, which can help prevent constipation, diarrhoea and even some cancers.

Boosts metabolism: They contain certain enzymes, which no other food contains. Sprouts also contain a large amount of protein, which is required for organ repair, skin regeneration, bone growth and muscle development.

Prevents anaemia:  If you suffer from an iron deficiency, include sprouts in your diet because they help in the production of red blood cells and also improve blood circulation.

Aids in weight loss:
Sprouts are not only packed with vitamins and nutrients, they are also loaded with fibre, which helps to make one feel full, by releasing ghrelin, which is the hunger hormone and tells our minds that we are ready to eat something. This can prevent overeating and help one lose weight.

Maintains heart health:
Sprouts are a good source of omega-3 fatty acids and can help reduce the amount of harmful cholesterol in blood vessels and arteries. Since sprouts are also high in potassium, they help reduce blood pressure, increase circulation and oxygenation and prevent heart attacks and strokes.
