Nutrition: The flour for both white and brown bread is made from wheat berries. However, while processing white bread, only the endosperm which is the starchy part in between the other two layers is used. This is the least nutritious part when compared to the germ and bran.

 

Is it healthy: Since it is low in fibre, it isn't as satiating as brown bread. Apart from that white bread often contains added sugar that can increase your glycemic index. Eating white bread has been linked to diabetes, cardiovascular problems and weight gain too.

Nutrition: Brown bread contains all three layers of the wheat berry. This includes the germ, bran and endosperm. This makes brown bread a much more high in fibre, vitamins B6 and E, magnesium, zinc, folic acid and chromium.

 

Is it healthy: Brown bread contains a lot of fibre therefore making it a wholesome and filling meal. Apart from that eating this fibre filled bread also helps digestion and also aids weight watchers.
