The myth: Potatoes are fattening

Fact:
This depends on how you eat potatoes. If you deep fry them and soak in oil, the unhealthy fats will make you add a couple of pounds. But if you look at potatoes by themselves, they are not fattening. Potatoes have several health benefits. For example, did you know potatoes do not shoot up your blood sugar levels? The method of cooking is what makes the difference. Therefore, potatoes do not make you fat if you roast, boil or steam them.
