Health Problem: Sleep Disorders

Reasons for Sleep Disorders: The elderly usually complain that sleep evades them; they are known to wake up early, often times even before sunrise. Sleep apnea, insomnia and restless leg syndrome are some of the sleep disorders faced by the elderly.

Consequence of sleep disorder: Lack of sleep only invites health problems just as it would in any grown adult; less sleep leads to lifestyle diseases. The elderly too require sufficient sleep.

Prevention: If this is a problem, then monitor your diet, be active during the day or exercise. These can help induce sleep. If all else fails, consult your healthcare provider for a medical solution.
