#4 Myth about weight training: Muscle turns to fat if you stop lifting weights

Fact about weight training:
This is a common belief, but how ‘true’ is this myth? Arnav breaks it down, “Muscle and fat are two entirely different tissues, just like your eyes and your skin. These two tissues cannot convert into the other. What can happen is that your muscle mass will go down and your fat stores will increase when you stop training, and that will happen if you stop any form of training and not just weight training. Look at any retired athlete who has stopped training now, and you will see a fatter person.”

  • Weight training equals bulking up.
  • Lifting light weights will not give you the bulky image.
  • There is a difference in weight training for men and women.
  • Muscle turns to fat if you stop lifting weights
  • Weight lifting makes you slow and inflexible
