Myth: Carbs are not associated with beer

Truth: While the proverbial beer belly may be due to your sedentary lifestyle, it might also be a result of carb overload. Compared to other alcoholic drinks, beer is rich in carbs. However, here lies a finer point.

Many studies have found that it is not the beer itself, but the food you eat along with it that is responsible for weight gain. Beer by itself is known for some health enriching qualities, bone strengthening being one of them. Therefore, as with all other food and drink, beer must also be consumed in smart portions. Anything less and you're depriving yourself. Anything more, and you're going to gain unhealthy weight.
