6 Ways to Shake up Your Weight Training Routine
Periodize your workout.
The idea of periodization of your workout is to avoid using the same workload and go for planned periodization. Here are a few tips by which you can periodize your workout:
- Change the order of your workout. For instance, if you generally start by training your abs and finishing with leg exercises, then flip the routine the next day.
- You can also consider changing the number and degree of your repetitions. You can also try and change the number of repetitions for a standard set of 12, 15 or 20.
- Cross train your muscles using circuit training, core classes, boot camps and other cross-functional exercises. After all the goal of weight training is to gain real life strength and not become a competitive body builder, and these exercises ensure just that.
- Target your body’s weakest part and be honest about this when exercising. Hit the areas in the gym, which you mostly dread, with rigour and fierce dedication.
