Weight Loss Food:  Health Benefits of Bell Peppers

 

Bell peppers add flavour to our food; whether they are baked, roasted, cooked or stuffed. But apart from their flavourful taste, they also offer a lot of health benefits, particularly as a  weight loss superfood.

 

Bell peppers contain a chemical called capsaicin, which boosts the fat-burning rate in the body, thereby aiding weight loss

 

Lycopene found in bell peppers prevents prostate cancer in men; Capsicum also contains carotenoids that guard your heart from cardiovascular disease.

 

Bell peppers also help to break down waste that is in the blood, hence they are prefect for those suffering from kidney disease.

 

Sources of vitamin C and adequate intake of nutrients have been associated with having a smaller waist and bell peppers have been shown to bolster immunity and prevent cell damage.

 

One chopped bell pepper contains 30-40 calories each, and is ideal for snacking on.
