What most of us don’t know is that the foods we eat enable the body to produce hormones, which are needed by our bodies to boost our metabolism and burn fat. The good news is that we don’t need to fill up our plates with expensive superfoods, we just need to raid our kitchen cabinets for fat burning foods and before you know it, those stubborn pounds will melt away.

Black Pepper
Black pepper contain a substance known as piperine, which according to research prevents the growth of fat cells. Piperine also gives pepper its pungent taste. So, if you want to burn fat, sprinkle generous amounts of fresh pepper on your eggs, salads, soups and in your curries for that extra kick.

Cinnamon
Research shows that cinnamon can be used to control blood sugar levels, thereby enabling weight loss. So use freshly ground (dry) cinnamon in your porridge or use it as a sweetner in your fruit salad and watch the excess kilos melt away. But it is important to note that overconsumption of cinnamon can cause toxicity in the body.

Red Chillies
Red chillies not only add flavour and spice to our food, but they are know to increase the levels of diet induced thermogenesis, thereby allowing stored fat to be burnt.Besides burning fat and promoting weight loss, red chillies also boost immunity and act as a pain reliever. So make sure to include fresh chilli powder in your curries. But make sure that you don’t add too much as this will make your food too spicy.
