Skincare Tips: Prevent Ageing with Tomato Pack

Tomatoes are easily available in markets and are present in every kitchen. Some people like them cooked and some like eating them raw, but tomatoes have exceptional properties that fight free radicals. Dermatologist, Dr. Vijay Singhal from Delhi based Sri Balaji Action Medical Institute breaks down why tomatoes are important for your skin and suggests a home remedy to prevent skin problems.

Skincare benefits of tomatoes:

Dr. Vijay Singhal explains the benefits of using tomato on the skin, “Tomatoes contain lycopene, which have antioxidant and anti-ageing properties. Tomatoes also contain multiple vitamins, which are beneficial for the skin. Lycopene is also available in the market in the form of tablets.”

Besides skincare, lycopene has several other health benefits like:

- It can boost sperm count
- Prevent diabetes
- Prevents heart diseases
- Prevents osteoporosis
- Protects your skin from the sun

Should you consume tomatoes or apply them on the skin? Dermatologist, Dr. Vijay Singhal says, “It is always better to eat tomatoes, so that the whole body benefits from consuming tomatoes.”

Skincare home remedies with tomatoes:

“Mash tomatoes and apply the pulp as a pack on the face. Wash after half an hour to get a clear and glowing complexion,” informs the doctor.
