Prevention: Joint and Muscle Infections

Your bones, joints, ligaments and tendons endure a tremendous amount of stress. Even though your bones and joints are supposed to deal with stress, wear and tear is unavoidable. Joint and bone pain can be incredibly troubling and uncomfortable. There are a lot of factors that can cause pain and encourage the spreading of infections in your joints. These reasons range from trauma, wounds, injury, tendonitis, osteoporosis and many others. Arthritis is a common reason that causes joint pain. There are certain ways to prevent the pain and alleviate the symptoms. We have listed a few.

Hot and Cold

The combination of hot and cold temperatures can work wonders for your joints. The first time you start feeling pain in your joints, put something cold and icy on the area and remove it after 15 minutes. The cold effect will help you reduce  the swelling due to slower blood circulation. You can apply an ice pack the next day several times for 15 minutes. Be careful with ice burns, wrap a towel around your ice pack and then apply it on the painful area.

A warm bath will help you eliminate the pressure on your bones, muscles and joints. Warm water will decrease the painful sensation and increase your blood flow.

Listen to your body

Your joints are not immune to a wide range of bacterial infections. Joint pain can indicate that something else is wrong. For example, a neglected case of gonorrhea can cause pain in your toes, wrists and ankles. Many people may confuse their painful sensations with arthritis and keep receiving medication for the wrong reasons. Therefore, it is very important to listen to your body and report your symptoms to a doctor.

Emotional or physical trauma can trigger pain in your muscles and tendons. This is known as fibromyalgia. This long-term disorder can affect your mood and make your life miserable. It is important to consult your doctor before the disease becomes chronic. Pain Management and Injury Relief Medical Center will provide you with an adequate medical assistance. Schedule an appointment with one of the PMIR doctors to identify your problem and seek solutions.

Massage

Massage is a great way to relieve the pain from your joints. A professional massage therapist will identify your painful areas on your back or joints. The right amount of pressure and a tropical menthol rub will easy your pain. Choose a massage therapist carefully.

Exercising and rest

Exercising should not cause any additional pain in your body. Avoid putting too much pressure on your knees. You need to listen to your body in order to avoid over exhaustion. A simple set of stretching and exercising will increase the flexibility and strength of your arms and legs. Flexibility is the key factor in preventing potential pain in your joints.

Rest will help your body recover faster. Resting in between your work out sessions is important. Your body needs time to restore energy and repair the torn muscles. The right amount of rest and exercise will not only increase your strength but it will reduce your chances of joint pain.
