What are the causes of mouth ulcers?
- “Accidental bites in the mouth or any other form of oral trauma is likely to result in mouth ulcers,” this is a common thing. We bite the inside of the mouth, especially when we are in a hurry to eat.
- But ulcers could also be a reason of vitamin deficiency, “Nutritional deficiencies such as those of Iron, Vitamin B 12 and/or Vitamin C could cause mouth ulcers.”
- Or it could be a sign for a disease, “Deficiency mouth ulcers can also occur if there is an underlying disease condition especially of the gut like in the case of Crohn’s disease.”
There are foods that can cause mouth ulcers, Neelanjana explains in detail which are the foods that cause mouth ulcers, “Many foods that have some abrasive properties, such as areca nut (supari), have been implicated in the formation of ulcers. Perhaps along the same lines, almonds are sometimes held responsible for the occurrence of mouth ulcers. Some fruits and vegetables containing different acids, such as strawberries and tomatoes, could cause mucosal ulceration in some susceptible individuals. Cheese, chocolate and coffee (the 3 C’s) are also on the list of possible causative foods. Besides foods, other products such as toothpastes could cause ulceration.”
But you don’t have to endure the pain, Neelanjana share some home remedies for mouth ulcer.
