Is Waxing or Permanent Laser Hair Removal Better?
Nothing compliments the summer wardrobe more than flawless and a stubble-free smooth skin. Giving those short numbers amiss is very hard on summer days when unwanted hair makes an appearance.
What happens when we wax or shave?
When looking for hair reduction solutions, one can find peace in waxing - a form of semi-permanent hair reduction which removes the hair from the root. Some of the issues of waxing are temporary pain and red rash. Further, to get desired results, the hair should be at least one centimeter in length. However, during this period we face the tricky problem of short hair growth. Although, this is not visible to naked eyes from a distance these can look quite ugly up-close.
Waxing and shaving has one more side-effect – ingrowth hair that often occurs because of improper methods of hair reduction. They occur when hair grows within the hair follicle instead of outside the follicle. This mainly happens when hair cannot be pulled off completely if the growth is very small. Hence, one needs to completely forgo the idea of waxing when the hair growth is not adequate. Shaving is also a temporary fix. It removes hair from the surface – you trim off a portion of hair which soon grows back, leaving you with stubbly skin.
How is laser hair reduction beneficial?
“One of the primary benefits of Laser Hair Reduction of course is that, it saves you numerous trips to the parlour”, points Dr. Sangeeta Amladi. She further adds, “Laser hair reduction, uses American FDA approved Nd: YAG laser technology that has been certified to be highly safe for Indian skin. The laser directly targets hair follicles without causing harm, in turn reducing your air growth from the roots and further preventing hair growth. This treatment reduces hair growth upto 80 per cent after you have completed about 6 sessions each in a gap of 4 to 6 weeks.”
And also addresses ingrowth problems by permanently putting a stop to hair growth. Many women also develop discoloration called post inflammatory hyper-pigmentation,with laser this discolouration goes away.
