Health Benefits of Lychee (Litchi)
Lychees are back in season and in this article we list out the health benefits of this tiny fruit. Lychees are loaded with unsaturated fatty acids, which help in the absorption of beta carotene, and other fat soluble vitamins. Regular consumption of this fruit also helps to prevent blood clots, severe cell damage and reduces strokes. They are also a good source of carbohydrates and fibre.
Encourages Blood formation: Lychees contain large amounts of manganese, magnesium, copper, iron and folate, which are required by the body for the formation of red blood cells (RBC).
Anti-ageing benefits: Lychees contain large amounts of antioxidants, which fight free radicals and slow down the ageing process.
Prevents High Blood Pressure: Lychees contain some amounts of potassium, which are required to maintain sodium level. This helps to maintain high blood pressure and it reduces one’s risk of a stroke and heart attack.
Prevents Heart Disease: Since Lychees contain high amounts of dietary fibre, they can prevent heart attacks and promote cardiovascular health. Lychees can also reduce bad cholesterol (LDL) and increase good cholesterol (HDL) levels in the blood.
