Borderline Diabetes: Is Prediabetes same as Diabetes?
Those who are prediabetics or borderline diabetes generally avoid the warnings and follow minimal precautions believing that the same rules of a diabetic does not imply to them. Sadly, prediabetes goes unnoticed and has no symptoms, hence let’s find out if prediabetes is same as diabetes.
While diabetes is classified as a life-long metabolism disorder characterised by very high levels of glucose in the blood, prediabetes or borderline diabetes is the early stage in the development of type II diabetes. People suffering from this condition, also known as impaired glucose tolerance, have a blood glucose level that is higher than normal but not high enough for them to be treated for type II diabetes.
Even if you are a diabetic you are prone to heart attack and stroke. When your blood glucose rises, your blood vessels feel the strain and damage your blood vessels too. Abnormal glucose levels also make you prone to developing type 2 diabetes. Hence it is important to control your prediabetic levels – it will help prevent type 2 diabetes and artery related problems.
Prevent prediabetes or borderline diabetes:
- Exercise daily
- Eat small meals
- Eat moderately
- Consume foods low in fat
- Consume foods low in carbohydrate
