What Fathers Really Want on Father's Day

A girl is the apple of her father's eyes, a boy the future of the family, the wife the force behind his success, and the man - the husband himself - is king supreme. But is this really true? Fathers are christened the bread winners of the family, the dominant head, but they are also the ones to answer the doorbell when it rings in the middle of the night, the go-to guys for killing bugs, the ones who're asked to carry heavy suitcases, the ones to keep place in queues while the wives mill about shopping...in short - fathers have to do a lot of dirty work for the rest of us. A father is the Three Musketeers rolled into One. And while electric shavers and golf sets might smooth your dad's life out a little, we tell you what he really (deep down) wants on this Father’s Day.
Give the nagging a rest: If wives don’t stop nagging, they often become the joke for office humour. Dads would definitely like a day where they are not nagged about fixing the sink or slouching on the couch the whole day, or how slow they are in doing anything. A day of no comments would be ideal, where dads can watch Discovery Turbo and attend to the other woman in his life - his car or bike - without interference from wife and kids. A long drive on open roads would be homey or a manly day with the men would be great.
No kids: One thing guys are bad at is taking care of kids, understanding their pranks and deceitful ways. A day without crying, yelling, screaming and loud cartoons would be perfect. It would be awesome if they could put their legs on the couch, indulging in chicken tandoori and a sipping on scotch while watching Gone in 60 Seconds or Tropic Thunder. No household work, no children, and feasting on food would sum up every dad's holiday plan.
A technoholic interlude: One wish fathers would love is a limitless credit card to purchase unreasonable gadgets and ridiculous gizmos they will never use. But the feeling of owning the best cameras, the best cell phone, the best music system - even though their stereo system is the best and still ‘works’ after 25 years - the best television and so on. It would be great compared to a cute puppy who will disrupt his sleep and pile on more responsilities to his household chores.
Work friends: They say never mix business with pleasure, but for some dads, being with colleagues is the best time, it makes them forget about their personal life. Hence dads count on them to come to work everyday, go out for lunch during office hours and grab a quick beer or two or three from the bar round the corner. Work life is like living in the hood, each one has your back.
So give your dad this single day of rest, leisure, laziness, tomfoolery and unreasonable purchases. Come Monday, he'll be back behind the wheel and busy with telling you what to make of your career. For today, he's the kid in the family. We wish all the Fathers a very Happy Father’s Day!
