Workout: Exercises for Sexy Calves
Summer is the time to slip into a short summery dress, hot pants and for guys, to walk around in three fourths and a vest. Summer brings out a complete change in wardrobe but what would really go well with the outfit are sexy calf muscles. It completes your summer or sexy beach look. Calf muscle is the muscle group just below the knee. It is made up of two muscles:
Gastrocnemius: It runs from its two heads just above the knee to the heel, and is involved in standing, walking, running and jumping. (Via)
Soleus: The soleus is a powerful muscle in the back part of the lower leg. This is the portion of the muscle that is visible superficially. (Via)
Arnav Sarkar, our fitness coach based from Kolkata would love to be in Goa too. He shares some exercises that will give you those sexy calves to pull off the summer look.
- "Mix some standing as well as seated versions of calf raises. So you could do standing calf raises with dumbbells in your hand and some seated calf raises.
- Or you could do donkey calf raises with seated calf raises.
- You can make the standing calf raise tougher by doing them one leg at a time."
He adds, "As far as sets and reps are concerned, do most of the training in the 10-25 reps range, and for 2-3 sets. But, if you have really stubborn calves, then do some heavy work in the 5-7 reps range for 2-3 sets too."
