Two Mosquito Species Responsible for Dengue Detected

(IANS) Two species of mosquitoes have been identified by the South Delhi Municipal Corporation as being responsible for the sudden rise in dengue cases in the capital, said N.K. Yadav, municipal health officer of south Delhi's civic body.

Dengue cases are constantly on the rise, and the city has seen more than 1,000 cases this year. There have been three deaths so far this season.

"Aedes Albopictus and Aedes Aegypty have been detected in the pre-urban areas of the capital," Yadav told reporters here Tuesday.

"While Aegypty is an in-house species and easy to control through fumigation, it is difficult to control Albopictus which develops outside," he said.

He said that symptoms of the disease are the same, after a bite from either species of mosquito.
