Side Effects of Laser on Your Skin
Cosmetic surgeries involving laser treatments are intensive and invasive in nature. While dermatologists might recommend laser surgeries as easy and effective treatments for your skin, there are a few side effects you should know before you take up the beauty procedure.
While most laser treatments are painless as the dermatologist would suggest, but it depends on the pain threshold of different individuals. You might feel a little discomfort after a laser treatment. Doctors usually prescribe a painkiller to ease the pain.
Itching, swelling and redness
Erythema or facial redness is very common during laser treatments. If ablative lasers are used the redness will be visible right after the procedure as the procedure vapourises one layer of your skin which take time to heal. In case if non-ablative lasers itching, swelling and redness is very common. This skin might take weeks to heal.
Very sensitive skin
It is punitive to wear sunscreen at all times after laser treatment, as the laser uses excessive heat to treat your skin.
Laser treatment works differently on white skin and dark skin, while the results are better on lighter skin tones, hyperpigmentation and hypopigmentation is common for both the skin tones. Asians are more prone to darkening of skin.
