Relieve Stress with Our Top 3 Favourite Pets

Relieve stress and get back to enjoying life, by simply spending time with your pet. Pets make the best therapists when it comes to lowering stress levels and boosting your dopamine levels naturally. So, here are our  top three pets that make excellent therapists.

Horses: In a study conducted on teenagers, it was concluded that teens who engaged in horseback riding, grooming and taking care of horses showed lower levels of the stress hormone, cortisol. Horse riding also ensures the prevention of muscle cramps, promotes stronger muscles, improves mobility, boosts one's cardiovascular system, reflex actions and also improves one's self-confidence.

Dogs: Canines are known to be loyal and can help one overcome depression, sadness, anxiety and stress. Dogs are great companions, increase one's fitness levels, reduce heart diseases, lower high blood pressure and are a reflection of one's personality.

Cats: If you love dogs, you may be biased towards cats. But, cats improve heart health as they reduce one's levels of stress. They are great companions like dogs, but they need lesser attention. Cats also help us on an emotional level; they are excellent at coping with pain.

Overall there are several benefits attached to owning a pet and one's health:

1) Owing a pet makes one responsible.
2) A daily routine like taking your dog for a walk helps fight depression.
3) Increases our physical activity.
4) Touch and physical contact is the essence of good health.
5) Most importantly – companionship.
