Madhuri Dixit Talks on Motherhood and Fitness
Madhuri Dixit, an epitome of beauty, grace and flexibility! Her looks defy her 45 year's of age, with two beautiful kids, and a husband to take care of this lady is a perfect example of gen next multitasking mom! The Dhak Dhak girl speaks to HMU on her motherhood, her 'secret ingredient' for fitness and her kid's workouts.
How has motherhood changed you?
Life is good. I have grown as a person with each life experience and the same has been with marriage and motherhood. You are the centre of your own universe when single, but Ram, Arin & Ryan complete me. They are my universe! I am definitely more patient now but yes, my sons do keep the child in me alive! Every stage of being a mother is amazing and our current exploration is the world of gaming!
How do you excel in multitasking your life with work family and ambitions? What's the trick?
I have the best of both worlds. I have been lucky never having taken a break from my passions - movies and dance, post marriage and children. Like any working mother I plan home, dance, work and other commitments keeping in mind that I need to give my best in all! I am blessed with a wonderful husband and children who make it all possible. If you set your priorities right, things automatically fall into place!
As a mother do you think one gets lazy of giving up on grueling workouts thinking that the running behind kids does enough workout?
While having two little boys is a handful; I still manage to take time out for physical activity. Ram and I love the outdoors and we do end up clubbing the two - running after the kids while enjoying an outdoor sport with them.
Is dancing your mojo for flexibility, energy and glow? What has your art given you as a person?
Dancing for me is a passion- its gives me a spiritual high, rejuvenates me after a hectic day at work and home with the additional benefit of being a great workout routine! With each step, I yearn to learn more- it’s a deep form of evolution for me
Tell us the secret behind the superb skin?
I’d say definitely the New Olay Regenerist Wrinkle Revolution Complex, Conventionally it takes days or weeks for women to see visible results with skincare products, be it in reducing the look of wrinkles or achieving whitening success. I can get skin ready for shoots, festivals & shows in just ten minutes!!
What do you do for fitness? Please give us your fitness regime?
I believe in staying fit but gym is not everything. I practice kathak thrice a week at home and the other two days I work out. I believe in staying healthy that shows in my skin. I have 5 to 6 small meals in the day and I don’t indulge in fat diets.
Tell us about your diet?
A healthy mind and body complement each other. So while Kathak helps me with a spirited mind and body, I take additional care of what I eat- the key being a healthy balanced diet- low carbs and high protein diet but nutritious at the same time, small frequent meals almost every two hours. I ensure I drink lots of water and avoid caffeine based drinks since they tend to dehydrate you! Leafy greens and a generous portion of fruit goes a long way in keeping you in the pink of health!
What do you do for your hair?
I have been blessed with healthy hair, but since a lot of styling during shoots tends to damage the hair , I ensure that I pamper them with a good hot oil massage, a hair spa once a fortnight, and condition my hair properly after each wash followed by a serum! Additionally, a healthy diet promotes good health for the hair as well- so I include a portion of walnuts/ eggs/ spinach/ yogurt in my diet. And above all, nothing better than a loving head massage by ma.
