Cancer Prevention: 3 Ways to Lower Cancer Risk


Cancer is a disease, which is growing at a rapid pace. And, even though most of us exercise and eat healthy, we are still unsure about how to keep this deadly disease at bay. So with that in mind, follow these tips to lower the risk of cancer.

1) Diet: What we consume affects the body and our health. Cancer patients need to consume foods rich in antioxidants, fibre and proteins. So, remember to add five servings of fruits and vegetables. Include plenty of fresh green leafy vegetables to your diet like spinach and replace your regular snacks with a bowl of fresh and colourful fruits. But, wash them thoroughly to prevent consumption of pesticides.

Excess consumption of meat can increase one's risk of cancer. Skip processed meat and instead choose fish or poultry and select lean cuts and eat small portions. And avoid burnt food as it increases the risk of cancer. Flush out toxins with adequate intake of water.

2) Exercise: Obesity or being overweight increases our chances of developing various types of cancers. Aim to achieve a healthy weight to reduce your risk of cancer by measuring your BMI regularly.

Physical activity not only helps to prevent cancer, but it also benefits your overall health. So, get moving and exercise for 30 minutesa day to reduce your chances of developing cancer.

3) Mental Health: Stress is bad for overall health as it is one of the main factors, which breaks down our immune systems and puts us at a higher risk of developing cancer. So, stay stress free by taking up meditation or indulging in your favourite hobby.

You can also prevent prostate and cervical cancer with sex. Intercourse improves your mental health boosts your immunity.
